The Heart of Dixie Horse Lovers Club was created in June of 1998 when a handful
of Middle Georgia equestrians wanted to create a club where horse-people from
the area could meet to fellowship, share ideas, learn more about horse care and
horsemanship, and participate in various horse-related activities. In less
than six months the club grew quickly and in November 1998 was named the Heart
of Dixie Horse Lovers Club. Since that first meeting, the Heart of Dixie Horse
Lovers Club has grown tremendously, now boasting over 100 adult members.
Just about all breeds from Belgians to miniature horses, Arabians to Quarter
Horses, and Thoroughbreds to Tennessee Walking Horses are represented.
Members have interests from barrel racing to dressage, to showing, jumping
to driving. Although members have such varied interests in breeds and
disciplines, We have
been able to find the common ground in our love for horses. Our goal for the
past 10 years has been to give horse people in Central Georgia the opportunity
to meet each other, learn more about the care and training of horses, and
introduce others into the wonderful world of horses. We have sponsored
many trail rides, cattle roundups, Christmas Light Rides in downtown Macon,
shows and clinics. Recently we installed hitching post in Juliette so we have a
place to tie the horses. Photo above are the members that installed the hitching
post in Juliette. The photo to the right is Robert Collins with his 7 year old
Grand daughter Amber Willis riding Avalon, a Missouri Foxtrotter, at our recent
Trail Challenge. She took first place in the youth group. Robert won first place
in the Adult class riding a 3 year Missouri Foxtrotter.

Ride.
